Apple cameras save photos as HEIC — clever compression, half the size of a JPEG, and unopenable in half the places you'll ever need to send one. Drop those files here and ordinary JPEGs (or PNGs) come back: no upload, no account, no three-files-then-pay wall, no ads — the decoder (libheif and libde265, the same libraries half of Linux uses, compiled to WebAssembly) is bundled into this page and runs on your machine, so a photo of your passport stays a photo on your machine. Bursts and multi-image files fan out as numbered frames; a batch comes back as one zip. One honest caveat: converting re-draws the pixels, so the photo's hidden metadata — where it was taken, when, on what phone — is left behind. For a photo you're about to send to a stranger, that is mostly a feature.
